White Linen Mandarin Collar Shirt

This classic piece of shirting features a Mandarin (or Grandad) collar, a curved button-flap chest pocket, and the same the same single-needle construction and mother of pearl buttons de rigueur to Drake's shirting.

Cut from garment-washed Spanish linen, it strikes a considered balance between airy breathability and a clean, crisp handle. Buttoned to the top, it feels precise and faintly ascetic; worn open, it carries a relaxed ease.

The grandad collar, also known as the band, stand, or Mandarin collar, predates the modern turndown collar we now take for granted.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, shirts were made with a simple stand designed to take a detachable, starched collar.

Workers, labourers, and those outside strictly formal settings often wore the band collar alone, a subtraction that changes the character of a shirt entirely. A small historical quirk, perhaps, but one with surprising staying power.
