A familiar Drake’s knit, made in collaboration with BEAMS F to celebrate the Japanese institution’s 50th anniversary.

Inspired by traditional Norwegian fisherman’s sweaters, this Birdseye jumper is knitted with the substantial handle and warmth you’d expect from a proper winter sweater. The distinctive Birdseye pattern adds a little appropriately preppy character while the double-faced jacquard construction gives it a pleasing density and texture.

It’s the sort of robust, straightforward knit that works just as well with denim as it does under a blazer.

We’ve always had a soft spot for the way Japan approaches menswear. There’s a particular attention to detail, a respect for tradition and, importantly, a willingness to make things its own. BEAMS has been doing just that for 50 years.

To celebrate the anniversary, we’ve worked with BEAMS F on a small collection that brings some of our favourite Drake’s pieces into conversation with their distinctly Japanese take on classic menswear. It’s less about looking backwards than seeing what happens when two long-standing appreciators of the same clothes approach them from different sides of the world.
