The Return of the Games Suit

Introducing the 'Mk. II' version of our knockabout Games Suit.

If you cast your mind back to the halcyon days of 2019, you may remember we launched a pair of brand new designs: our matching Games Blazer and Games Chinos which, when combined, formed the mighty Games Suit, a potent combination of effortless style and easy durability. We dubbed this two-piece our ‘knockabout suit,’ as it was created with a certain carefree attitude in mind. Cut a little bit roomy, with a surfeit of pocket space, the Games Suit could be worn in a rough and tumble manner, and – when needed – rolled up and thrown in the washing machine. A perfect amalgamation of tailoring and workwear, the Games Suit quickly became a staple for us here at Drake’s, perfect for a range of occasions.

The observant among you may have noticed that our Games Blazer is dubbed the ‘Mk. I,’ which of course implies a sequel was inbound. That follow-up, called – you guessed it – the Mk. II, is now here, and it’s a subtle variation on the original’s unbeatable formula.

Constructed with the same roomy, mid-century silhouette as its predecessor, the Mk. II is made distinct by a jaunty peak lapel – a lighthearted nod to more formal aspects of tailoring. We have also eschewed the flap pockets of the original model, in favour of simpler patch pockets with chevron stitching (which also feature the signature Drake’s ticket pocket on the right-hand side).

Otherwise, it’s business as usual. The Games Blazer Mk. II – worn with this season’s matching Games Chinos, or as a standalone jacket – is an ideal piece for the man who wants clothing that’s elegant but not delicate, refined but not high maintenance. The Games Blazer is made to be worn in and to age beautifully, as it quietly becomes an indispensable part of your wardrobe.
