Welcome to New York: The 'Open Studio' T-shirt

Canal Street has lived many lives. A 26 block stretch from West Street to East Broadway, it has, over hundreds of years, gone from a wellspring, to swampland, to vital and vibrant Manhattan thoroughfare. It’s housed industry, artists, mom and pop businesses; teeming delis, white table cloth restaurants and all of the usual seekers, searchers and blue sky aspirants of the Big Apple. Canal has seen it all and then again a few more times for good measure.

Surrounded by Chinatown and a renewed New York energy, here is the perfect spot for Drake's to set up shop in a city that feels like a second home. Located on 361 Canal, the Drake’s Open Studio is a shop, yes, but also an art hub, event space and neighbourhood meeting point, inspired by the high-ceilinged, airy artist lofts of Tribeca and old Soho. We’re showing work by artists who we admire (currently Brooklyn-based artist b. Chehayeb) and working alongside our friends and neighbours, with plenty more in the pipeline.

Which brings us to the t-shirts. Designed specifically for our arrival on Canal, the Open Studio tees are made from heavyweight cotton in our signature hiking style with a regular fit and a custom screen print design. There’s one in navy with a red Open Studio print on the back, and a white long-sleeve with arm branding and a Drake’s flag emblem on its chest.

Our small ode to this captivating corner of New York, the Open Studio t-shirts are around for now, but they won’t be around for long.
